March

I haven't accomplished much that is March related  ....
but since the bunny is stitched in green it will suffice for St. Patrick's Day, Easter and Spring. ^^  The fabric that it's posing on is what I'm planning to use with it but I'm just not sure how I want to finish it.  It's a Luli design.

Fickle Mother Nature left us with 4" of wet snow yesterday.

Have a look at Slow Sunday Stitching.

sunbonnet sue ....

This sweet gal is a needlekeep.  She's part of the 'wool love blog tour' and can be found here.

We had an inch of fresh snow overnight - the sun is trying to come out so the snow may disappear.

a squeaker ....

It was a squeaker but I finished it just in time .... my spring cushion cover!  The petal template is available at Flamingo Toes and I used my favourite decorator fabric - dropcloth. ^^

This is a full month with St. Patrick's Day, the arrival of Spring and Easter ... April could be feeling left out.  ^^

something new and a reminder ....

These variegated threads are my something new ... I can't wait to use them!  The variegated red #115 has been a favourite of mine for ages ... I hope I like the others as much.  I found these on Amazon - 2 each of 18 colours!!

The reminder is to those of you who leave a comment but don't receive a reply from me .... it's because you are a 'no reply' blogger.  :(

Spring is well and truly here and the earliest it's been for quite a few years.  I recall when spring arrived in March every year followed by rain showers in April (along with tulips, daffodils, etc)  and gardening and camping in May.  Times they are a changing and I need to remind myself .....

2 in1

Spring weather has arrived early this year and we're loving it.  It's nice to be outdoors again even if it's just to play around draining the melting snow.  ^^  Time spent in the sewing room has been limited but that's ok.
Today I'm sharing with you 2 items in 1 photo.  The flowers on the wreath are made from felt and were a fun make.  The mini quilt is an idea from Temecula Quilts - I'm not sure what the block is called but I can tell you that each one finishes at about 3" - another nice way to use up scraps.  Note the top centre block that looks like a heart - this is a Pat Sloan trick to add a prairie point at the centre top of the block to make it a heart .... isn't that clever!!
The wood tree that my fella made is perfect
for displaying these.

voilà

It was just one another of those things that I had to try ..... making a hexie from a circle.  I wouldn't even consider making them any other way now.  So I got carried away making a few and was trying to come up with an idea for using them.  I'd put a few together for a mug rug/coaster but keeping the same shape (hexie flower) for the backing and attaching it neatly was a challenge and needs a better plan.  Then I spotted a hexie pincushion and decided that was a good idea except that I have a huge wooden bowl full of pincushions that I've made - overkill,  just like the hearts.  But anyway, the pincushion was a challenge so I made one and voilà .......

It measures 3" across and took 8 hexies.  I tried to fussy cut the two for the top and bottom centres - I really should use a clear template for fussy cutting.  ^^
